  • USA’s Michael Russell is the oldest man through to the 2nd round aged 32 years 8 months. He takes on another Spaniard, No. 7 seed David Ferrer, on Show Court 2. Russell was one of 7 men aged over 30 to reach the 2nd round here this year.
  • Another 30 something, qualifier Jan Hernych, was the highest-ranked man to win his opening round match. The 31-year-old Czech is ranked No. 241 and is in action today against No. 30 Thomaz Bellucci.
  • Italy’s Andreas Seppi defeated former finalist Arnaud Clement in his 1st round victory on Tuesday.
