On court today…
• Defending champion Rafael Nadal, who is in action on Philippe Chatrier, is bidding to win a 6th Roland Garros crown to equal Bjorn Borg’s record here.

• Giant-killer Robin Soderling also takes to the courts on Tuesday. The Swede, who has finished as a runner-up for the last 2 years, is one of only 2 players (along with Juan Martin del Potro) to have defeated both Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer in Grand Slam events.

• John Isner and Nicolas Mahut, the 2 players who famously contested the longest match ever at 2010 Wimbledon, are both in action today. Isner faces Nadal and Mahut plays No. 32 Kevin Anderson.

• Rainer Schuettler is the oldest man to start in the men’s main draw this year at 35 years, 1 month. The oldest man to win the title here in the Open Era was Spain’s Andres Gimeno, who won 1972 Roland Garros aged 34 years, 306 days.

• Arnaud Clement starts his 2011 Roland Garros campaign on Court 2 against Filippo Volandri. The French wild card is making his 53rd Grand Slam appearance – the most of any active player.
