• Kevin Anderson and Rik de Voest are bidding to become the first South African men to reach the 3rd round at Wimbledon since Wayne Ferreira in 2004. Anderson faces Novak Djokovic on Court 1 and de Voest takes on Fernando Gonzalez on Court 14.

• Both finalists from the 2002 Wimbledon final are in action today. 2002 champion Lleyton Hewitt plays No. 5 seed Robin Soderling on Centre Court, while 2002 runner-up David Nalbandian is up against Andreas Haider-Maurer on Court 12.

• 2 men making their comeback from injury are through to the 2nd round at this year’s Wimbledon: Fernando Gonzalez, who plays here on a protected ranking after having hip surgery, and Nalbandian, who went under the knife for a left leg and groin injury in March.

• 3 of the 4 former Wimbledon boys’ champions through to the 2nd round are looking to advance to the 3rd round here: 1998 boys’ champion Roger Federer, 1999 champion Jurgen Melzer and 2008 champion Grigor Dimitrov.
