WIMBLEDON DAY 9 – MEN’S NOTES (via ITF)
Wednesday 29 June | Quarterfinals

No. 1 Rafael Nadal (ESP) v No. 10 Mardy Fish (USA)
No. 2 Novak Djokovic (SRB) v (Q) Bernard Tomic (AUS)
No. 3 Roger Federer (SUI) v No. 12 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga (FRA)
No. 4 Andy Murray (GBR) v Feliciano Lopez (ESP)

• The Top 4 seeds are bidding to reach the semifinals here for the 2nd consecutive Grand Slam, having all reached the last 4 at 2011 Roland Garros. The last time the Top 4 seeds reached the Wimbledon semifinals was in 1995, when No. 1 Andre Agassi, No. 2 Pete Sampras, No. 3 Boris Becker and No. 4 Goran Ivanisevic took their appointed places in the draw.

• If the Top 4 seeds all advance into the semifinals, it will mark the first time in the Open Era that the Top 4 have reached the semifinals at back-to-back Grand Slam events.

• The 4 host Grand Slam nations are represented in the last 8 at a major for the first time since 2004 Wimbledon, when Lleyton Hewitt, Sebastien Grosjean, Tim Henman and Andy Roddick reached the quarterfinals.

• Four of the 8 quarterfinalists are already grass court titlists: Federer, Fish, Murray and Nadal.

• Qualifier Tomic is the only first-time Grand Slam quarterfinalist, and Fish joins him in reaching his first ever Wimbledon quarterfinal. Tomic is bidding to become the first qualifier to reach the semifinals at Wimbledon since Vladimir Voltchkov in 2000.

• 29-year-old Federer is the oldest of the 8 quarterfinalists, and 18-year-old Tomic is the youngest. At 18 years 255 days, Tomic is looking to become the youngest Wimbledon semifinalist since Boris Becker in 1986.

• All of the quarterfinalists have dropped at least one set en route to the last 8. Lopez has conceded the most games (74) into the quarterfinals, and Djokovic the least (41).
